The holiday season is in full force. This weekend begins the holiday of Hanukah known as the festival of lights. As with all holidays, they are many traditions, and as we know, that certainly involves food. So this post will share a rounded meal you could do at your home, Jewish or not, if you want to experience the culture of this holiday through food. Enjoy!
We begin our cultural journey with Potato Latkes by the Cooking Canuck. This recipe was featured on All Parenting magazine and is drawn from their post.
As all Jewish families know, you can never be satisfied with just one appetizer. And when you are done eating your appetizers, you have to say “I am to full to eat even another bite” but you will. The most commonly recognized Jewish appetizer has to be Chopped Liver. This recipe is provided from Andrew Zimmerman via Food and Wine Magazine.
For the main course, there are so many ways to go. Brisket is a very common offering but I present a Lemon Roasted Chicken via Taste of Home and David Feder.
One of the most traditional desserts in jelly filled donuts. I offer up this spin of a Jelly filled Donut Cupcake from Elana’s Pantry
But I still need a little something chocolate to finish my meal. So how about some Chocolate Hanukah Cupcake Bites from the Gluten Free Canteen.
