I was trying to come up with a totally different idea for this week’s addition and decided to try wine. Wine is used in so many dishes and a lot of people don’t realize it. I guess the inspiration for this post is that I am going with my daughter (thanks Molly) to the Food and Wine Conference in Orlando this weekend. So wine came to my mind.
So let’s begin this Friday Five – Wine addition with what else, a drink. I believe the most traditional, or often thought of, wine drink is the Sangria. This version presented by Spache the Spatula is a Red Wine Sangria a la Bobby Flay.
Now I am not sure if this next offering is an appetizer or a side for a main course but I offer it up as an appetizer. These Oven Braised Artichokes was created by Gourmand in the Kitchen.
This next recipe is a really cool appetizer. It is a Blackberry Cabernet Wontons by Domestics Fits.
This recipe is so up my Sunday alley. A grilled panini. Not just any panini. A Grilled Wine and Cheese Panini from Panini Happy. Simply amazing.
So let’s move to the main courses. We begin a really hearty dish. A Beef and Red Wine Pot Pie developed by Citrus and Candy.
For another hearty main course, I present Lamb Leg Steaks with Shallots and Sticky Red Wine Sauce from The Greedy Gourmet.
I have only presented 5 recipes thus far and we have a drink, a couple of appetizers, a sandwich and a beef and lamb dish. Look how versatile wine is in these recipes. I have not presented a lot of recipes with white wine. So let’s take a left turn and begin this sweet spin with a Cream Chicken in a Mushroom Wine Sauce from Chicken Recipe Box.
The final entrée uses white wine as well. It is a Penne Rustica by The Girl Who Ate Everything.
Moving to our final course of dessert. I present Peanut Butter Pots de Creme from Brave Tart (what a perfect name for a dessert blog).
Our final offering is a Vegan Red Wine Chocolate Cake from Flavors of Mumbai.
Enjoy!
