OK. This might be one of the coolest recipes I have made to date. Or using the rotisserie feature on my new oven made this Chicken Gyros French Fry Salad so easy to make.

Now I am not promoting my new THERMADOR oven nor a sponsor. I am a foodie who loves the features in this oven. I am loving the steam function – bagel post – coming soon. But the key to this recipe is using the rotisserie function. If you are like me, you have had a rotisserie on your outdoor grill and never used it. Now, I do not even know where the rotisserie piece is to use.
The rotisserie is so easy to use. It cooks meat so well and gets a good char on the outside. To create the gyros, chicken thighs are first marinated in a spice and yogurt mixture. After marinating, the thighs are placed on the spit one at a time. Then, the spit goes in the oven. Set the spit in place and turn the oven rotisserie feature on.
The unique finish of this dish is completed by adding traditional gyros ingredients and french fries. The recipe owes its origins to the ATHENIAN ROOM in Chicago. It is still a favorite of my wife and my sister-in-law and my daughter and nieces. The fries they make are thick so they are crisp on the outside and tender in the middle. They drench them in a oil dressing. It is hard to recreate but I think we were close.
