This Friday Five is inspired by yesterday’s post and the next two posts I have planned. They are all Indian dishes I created. My wife and I love Indian food. With my acquired cooking knowledge, I am no longer intimidated, nor do I find these recipes to complex to make. I also have a lot of the ingredients in my spice rack now which makes it easy. So I present to you the Friday Five – Indian addition. I hope you like it as much as I do.
Our first offering is a traditional appetizer called a Samosa. These are Spicy Vegetarian Lentil Samosas created by Eat Healthy Eat Happy.
One of the most traditional curry dishes is Tandoori chicken. If you have not tried Indian food before, this is a good dish to order and start with something that is milder in terms of Indian spices. This Chicken Tandoori was developed by RX4.
Another dish to start with, if you are new to Indian cuisine, is butter chicken. It has great Indian spices and some sweetness. This recipe is a little spin on the traditional recipe. This is No-Butter Chicken from the Kayotic Kitchen.
If you are a meat eater, Indian food is definitely a genre that can convert you or at least change your mind to becoming a vegetarian or at least a pescatarian. This recipe for Coconut Shrimp Curry is loaded with flavor and beautifully presented by a Wishful Chef.
One of my wife and my favorite dishes, and it is all vegetarian, is this Red Lentil Curry Dish from Pinch of Yum. I have made this more than once.
Our final idea for this Friday Five – Indian addition is a street treat that I have never tried. It is known as Indian Cashew Kunukku and was created by the Chef In You.

I adore Indian food. I used to make it all the time, but the kids don’t really care for it. I’m hoping they will eventually acquire better taste buds…haha. Actually it’s probably time to try it again since they’re teenagers. I think I should start over on my spices though, because most of what I have for Indian is quite old at this point. You’re inspiring me with this post!

Indian is MY FAVORITE cuisine by very far. I must east Indian food at least twice a week, if not more. I just came back from India and I now have quite a few recipes I gotta try to make 😉 You are right Peter, having a fully stocked spice rack is KEY to cooking Indian food!
